Mass Tort Update Asbestos Update
Asbestos exposure causes Mesothelioma and asbestosis. Mesothelioma is cancer whose only cause is asbestos. Asbestosis is a scarring of the lungs due to the inhalation of asbestos fibers.
The following table is compiled from data by the EWG Action Fund. It lists the number of deaths since 1979 associated with asbestos in Alabama counties. Any county not listed did not record a death from Mesothelioma or asbestosis during the 20-year period.
It should be noted the EWG site lists a range of deaths while this site is only reporting the lower figure.
