The three counties of Delaware reported 249 deaths from the asbestos-related diseases Mesothelioma and asbestosis during a 20-year reporting period. Mesothelioma is a deadly cancer whose only cause is exposure to asbestos. Asbestosis is scarring of the lungs attributed to the inhalation of asbestos fibers.
The following table is compiled from Connecticut data developed by the EWG Action Fund. New Castle, Delaware, report the highest number of deaths at 146, 98 from asbestosis and 48 from Mesothelioma.
The EWG site lists a range of deaths while this site is only reporting the lower figure.
