Background: Sources told Mealey Publications that on Oct. 16, 2002, Karl Hoeckh was making a delivery to Pierson Industries Inc. On his way out of the building, Hoeckh walked down a step ladder being used as stairs when the step ladder fell over, causing damage to Hoeckh's right knee, sources said.
Hoeckh needed four surgeries to repair the damage sustained and is a potential candidate for a knee replacement, sources said. Hoeckh sued Pierson on Oct. 1, 2004, in the Morris County, N.J., Superior Court.
