Robert Caplan

Robert M. Caplan is a Member of the firm practicing in the Subrogation & Recovery Department. He has more than 19 years of litigation experience focusing primarily on negligence and product liability claims. Robert has represented clients in complex worker's compensation and property subrogation cases and personal injury cases including fire, flood, roof collapse, construction, workplace accident, and product malfunction claims in numerous federal and state jurisdictions around the country. Robert is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and before the U.S. Supreme Court, the Supreme Courts of Pennsylvania and New Jersey, the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of Pennsylvania and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Third, Fourth, Sixth and Eighth Circuits.

Robert has participated in trial and settlement of significant cases including:

  • $30 million jury verdict in a case involving reformation of a property liability insurance policy arising from a flood in St. Louis, Missouri which inundated a manufacturing facility;
  • $5.4 million settlement involving the failure of a large industrial bearing at a steel manufacturing plant in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania;
  • $1.5 million settlement involving the failure of a sprinkler system at a manufacturing facility in New Jersey making custom high-end wooden windows and doors; and
  • Settlement of numerous other claims involving property damage and personal injuries in residential and commercial establishments caused by the negligence of contractors and/or product malfunctions.


Robert is also a hearing committee member serving the disciplinary board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.

 

Robert is also a founding member, current President and coach of the Conshohocken Bulldogs Youth Lacrosse Club
