07/12/10

Harry M. Roth rode in the 38th Annual American Cancer Society Bike-A-Thon over the weekend to raise awareness for cancer research, treatment and support provided by the American Cancer Society.

Mr. Roth joined thousands of riders, participating in honor, support and memory of family and friends, who rode their bikes along the 66.2 mile ride from the base of the Ben Franklin Bridge in Philadelphia to the Buena Vista Camping Park in Buena, New Jersey. Roth participates in the ride to raise funds and awareness for the education, research and support services provided by the American Cancer Society. Each year of his participation, Harry Roth has been one of the leading fundraisers for the event. He has raised $13,660 for this year's event so far. Fundraising closes on August 11, 2010.

About the Bike-A-Thon

Each year, hundreds of cancer survivors take part in the Bike-a-thon, along with thousands of friends, family members, and others whom ride alongside one another to help, support and raise awareness for the fight against cancer.

Since its beginning, the Bike-a-thon has raised over $17 million for the American Cancer Society's research, education, advocacy, and patient service programs.

The Bike-a-thon is the single largest biking event for the American Cancer Society.

"When people come together to make a difference in the fight against cancer, it can have a dramatic effect both on their community and on the disease itself. That's why the American Cancer Society gives people the power to help fight cancer in communities around the nation with opportunities such as Bike-a-thon, Celebration on the Hillâ„¢, and other advocacy and volunteer efforts," according to the American Cancer Society.

Inspiring results

Harry Roth has been recognized as a member of the Peloton Club for having raised over $2,500 dollars before the ride began and a total of $13,600 raised so far; currently the second leading fundraiser for this year's event. Peloton Club members are a select group of cyclists who are committed to achieving extraordinary results in fundraising.

"As always, I ride in honor and memory of very special family and friends," said Harry Roth, an attorney and shareholder with the law firm of Cohen, Placitella and Roth. "The American Cancer Society has helped those in need, serves as a valuable resource of information and support and supports critical research. This is an extremely valuable event and an important cause, and every donation helps the American Cancer Society to continue to do this great work."
