This litigation involves the claims of hundreds of women throughout the country whose alleged injuries as a result of these transvaginal mesh and bladder sling devices include erosion, infection, pain, urinary problems, bleeding, vaginal scarring or shrinkage, pain during sexual intercourse, and recurrence of urinary problems or pelvic organ prolapse. As Co-Liaison Counsel, Ms. Roman shall serve as a liaison between the Court, defense counsel and all Plaintiffs' counsel.
The Honorable Carol E. Higbee has scheduled the next case management conference for September 15, 2011.
Recently, the Food and Drug Administration has issued a safety communication describing the serious and potentially severe complications linked to transvaginal mesh devices. These devices are utilized in the surgical repair of bladder and other pelvic organ prolapse, as well as to repair involuntary urine leakage or incontinence.
